• Why does a date differ from another panchang?
• Most differences come from the city, the सूर्योदय definition (upper limb or centre, refraction, elevation), the मास system (अमांत or पूर्णिमांत) or the ayanamsha. Janma uses astronomy-engine positions and shows the rule it applied on each festival पान.
• How do I change the city or date?
• Use the city box and the date bar at the top of any पान. Your city is remembered on this device.
• What are अमांत and पूर्णिमांत?
• Two ways of naming lunar months. अमांत months end at the new moon and are common in the south and west; पूर्णिमांत months end at the full moon and are common in the north. सण दिवस are the same; only the मास name of the dark fortnight changes.
• Which ayanamsha does Janma use?
• Lahiri by default. Birth forms and Match let you choose Lahiri, Raman, KP or True चित्रा for each person.
• What is the सूर्य Siddhanta option?
• An approximate model of the classical mean-motion arithmetic for the सूर्य and चंद्र, offered for comparison in Settings. It is labelled approximate; सूर्योदय and the planets stay astronomical.
• Can I add festivals to my दिनदर्शिका?
• Yes. The महिना पंचांग पान has an Add to Google दिनदर्शिका link for each event, an ICS download, and a form to add your own events, which stay in this browser.
